Grace and Peace to you from God our Father and from our Lord, Jesus Christ. He has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Remain in Christ.
Welcome to afaithtalk.com for another Bible Study Tuesday. We’re in Daniel 5 today and I am so glad you’re here. I’m reading from the NIV, which you can access here if you don’t have one on hand.
As excited as I am to begin, and my guess is you are as well, we must pause a minute and ask Jesus to lead, so let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, thank you for this book and this time to study. Thank you for all the access we have to share this and find this and read it and wonder over it, but most of all, Lord, thank You for Your constant presence within and around and among us. I’m asking now, Lord, as all revelation is in Your hands, please lead us. Please open our eyes to see what You have for us today. All for You and in Your name, I pray. Amen.
Read Daniel 5:1
Chapter 5
The Writing on the Wall
It’s a little confusing, but no, Daniel is not the king, this king is probably Nebuchadnezzar’s son. Daniel’s Chaldean name is Belteshazzar. See the te?
So the king is having a banquet. Seems they do that an awful lot, don’t you think? Maybe they were better at celebrations than we are? Who knows, but they’re about to make a terrible decision.
Read Daniel 5:2-4
Do you see it? Items from the temple in Jerusalem they used and then praised false gods.
Read Daniel 5:5-6
Nothing is hidden from our God. Be very careful what you see, do, say or think. You are children of the light. Stay in the light.
Read Daniel 5:7-9
Sound familiar? I’m so grateful that when our King comes, we will get the party, but there won’t be anything to fear. Because it’s His party.
Read Daniel 5:10-12
How did the queen know this? Why to the kings always revert to their supposed wise men?
Read Daniel 5:13-16
Not gods, the God. The only One worthy of all praise.
Read Daniel 5:17
Daniel knows he has all he has ever needed and as much as he has ever wanted because he has God. Do you know that?
Read Daniel 5:18-23
The God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. Honor him with your time.
Read Daniel 5:24-28
At this point in time the Medes & Persians were entering the city. God is sovereign over all of it.
Numbered & Found Wanting.
Be certain your life includes God. For ‘He holds in His hand your life’ too.
Read Daniel 5:29
Belshazzar kept his word despite Daniel’s request to give it to another.
Read Daniel 5:30-31
See, that ‘very night’. From this one on, the Medes and Persians will be who rules Babylon, at least for the rest of this book. Amazing things happen and are said about these leaders. We’ll see God’s sovereignty in more of Daniel’s book.
Thank You, Lord Jesus. Amen.
