How are you feeling this lovely day? Whether it’s sunny, rainy, snowy or cloudy, isn’t it a good day to be you?! I am having a hard time with that today. So many things to get done and well, by my clock, I am running out of time to get those things done. Have you ever had a day like that? Or many days like that?
I just started a new job yesterday. For this fairly recent stay at home mom, I wanted some of my own money again. I never had to worry about anyone paying for me to do anything before the last few months. And it is starting to show strain on my husband. So, this new job is going to help ease that stress for him…..and create more for me. Now I will have 3 fewer days a week to do all of those things I would like to get done.
So how do I tackle that? First, don’t let myself get behind in laundry!! That is the most labor-intensive work I have to do for a family of four with a dog. Only one out of us four puts his own laundry away. Leaving 3 different dressers and closets for me to put the washed, dried and folded clothes in their place. Definitely taking hours of time. Despite having time in between loads, if you think about it from start to stop, it’s hours for each load!
Next, make simpler meals and make lots. I always have the leftovers for my lunch the next day or two. This makes that time so much easier if I don’t have to start from scratch again. And fewer dishes are never a bad thing. My teenage son will have to do the dishes once or twice a week too. He certainly doesn’t need to play his video games with work in the house to help with! So that will help me too. Enlist more help!
Let’s round out the choring duties with what remains. Picking up, sweeping and dusting all in the house; cow, chicken and cat feedings outside. Outside chores take about 15 minutes, so the other 45 minutes in that hour should go to picking up around the house and possibly sweeping. Depends on how much my daughter has out if this is enough time to complete the job. Solving that, I’d really like to get these cleaning things done in a two hour span the days I am not working.
Okay, now you tell me, how likely is it going to be for me to do all of this on days off when I am working? It’s going to be fine, because it is going to be me against me. It all comes down to moms doesn’t it? We do what we have to do to make the family work. The kids, the husband, the animals, the house, the whole kit and caboodle! Moms can do it all…it all comes down to ME and YOU! You got this Mom!
