Romans 2
God Is Kind, but Not Soft
Welcome back to Bible Study. Were you able to mull over the difference between kind and nice this past week? There is much to see about how kind our God is.
Let’s pray:
Father, thank You for bringing us back here today. Thank You for revealing your kindness to us, thank You for your firmness too. For I know in all I read that you are not soft, but you are so very kind and so very gentle. Thank You for the way You draw me right back to you so very often. Lord Jesus, we ask for your help and You to teach us Romans 2 today. It’s more terrible consequences that faithlessness incurs. Grow our faith. In Your name, we pray. Amen.
In the NIV the subtitle for Chapter Two is God’s Righteous Judgment.
Read Romans 2:1
Watch out. You, therefore have no _____________, you who pass _____________ on someone else… because you who pass ______________________ do the same things? Pray. Pray. Pray.

If you sin without knowing what you’re doing, God takes that into account. But if you sin knowing full well what you’re doing, that’s a different story entirely. Merely hearing God’s law is a waste of your time if you don’t do what he commands. Doing, not hearing, is what makes the difference with God.
“Merely hearing God’s law is a waste of your time if you don’t do what he commands.”
Romans 2:13
Read Romans 2:15
The requirements of the law are _______________ on their _________. …
This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ,
as my gospel declares.
Romans 2:16
Romans 2:17-29
A person is a Jew who is one _________; and circumcision is circumcision of the ________, by the ________, not by the ______________ code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.
Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, nothing is hidden from you and for that I want to say Thank You. Thank You for these words of warning and encouragement. Thank You for the assurances too. Thank You for the repetitive Scripture too, those that prove we’re only going to be judged or rewarded for what we do, the self-control you gift us with and the time to read these words and think on them and the lessons You teach in them. Your leadership is wonderful. All for your glory and in Your precious name we pray. Amen.
