Welcome to the Quick Study of Isaiah. This week we’re in chapter 9 and while a lot of it is judgement it also contains these prophecies that Jesus has fulfilled. So today, four verses and a few from the Gospels to just inspire worship and adoration of our Lord and Savior.
Before we start, let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, we praise and thank You for being the fulfillment of prophecies all over this wonderful book. Help us see, Lord. Help us hear. Help us learn and keep our faith alive, active and growing within us. All for You, Lord.
Matthew 4
12 Now when Jesus heard that John [the Baptist] had been arrested and put in prison, He left for Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth, He went and settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the country of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:
Isaiah 9:1-2
1 But there will be no more gloom for her who was in anguish [for with judgment comes the promise of salvation]. In earlier times He treated the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali with contempt, but later on He will make them honored [by the presence of the Messiah], by the way of the sea, on the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles.
2 The people who walk in [spiritual] darkness
[a]Will see a great Light;
Those who live in the dark land,
The Light will shine on them.
Isaiah 9:6-7
6 For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given;
And the government shall be upon His shoulder,
And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 There shall be no end to the increase of His government and of peace, [He shall rule] on the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From that time forward and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
John 1:
1 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word ([a]Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. 2 He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. 3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. 4 In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].
The promise – “There shall be no end to the increase of His government and of peace.” That is why we can be part of His Kingdom while we live on earth today. Every time another one believes, the Kingdom grows. Praise God. For His plan is perfect. Praise God for He sent Jesus. And Jesus is our Savior. Blessed be His Name.
