This is part 2. It’s also Philip part 1. If you can remember back in chapter six, Philip is another one of the seven chosen. Watch him proclaim Him from whom all blessings flow.
Guide me Lord. Lead me Lord.
Acts 8 – Amplified Bible this time Verses 4-8.
Philip in Samaria
4 Now those [believers] who had been scattered went from place to place preaching the word [the good news of salvation through Christ]. 5 [b]Philip [the evangelist] went down to the city of Samaria and began proclaiming Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) to them. 6 The crowds gathered and were paying close attention to everything Philip said, as they heard [the message] and saw the [miraculous] signs which he was doing [validating his message]. 7 For unclean spirits (demons), shouting loudly, were coming out of many who were possessed; and many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 So there was great rejoicing in that city.
Footnotes
[b] Philip [the evangelist] – Acts 8:5 One of the Seven named in 6:5; 21:8.
Verse 4 – They weren’t scattered for no reason, look what they did. They kept preaching. Oh the way God planned for the news to spread. The good news – salvation in Jesus. Oh praise God for the simple way, the amazing way You brought us freedom, and eternal life, all the gifts are from Him, all the promises are Yes in Jesus. It’s Jesus you need. It’s Jesus we all need.
Verse 5&6 – Philip proclaimed Christ. There is a difference in preaching and proclaiming Christ. He praised or glorified, openly, publicly Jesus our Messiah.
Look how well they paid attention. Close attention to everything Philip said because they not only heard but they also _____. Which validated his message. Praise God.
Verse 7 – some of what those signs were, can you imagine the praise and rejoicing that went through that city in response to all that healing? We have a good God. King Jesus. Glorify and praise Him in your life.
