You reached Part 2! Congratulations for continuing the study with me. Church is the word we use for followers of Jesus gathering. Ecclesia or Ekklesia is the word we get it from.
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, help us see if there be any particular thing in the church in Antioch that we’re missing in our local church today that can be fixed with more faith and more of You.
Please read Acts 11:19-21
The Church at Antioch
19 So then [since they were unaware of these developments] those who were scattered because of the persecution that occurred in connection with [the stoning of] Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, without telling the message [of salvation through Christ] to anyone except Jews. 20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks as well, proclaiming [to them] the good news about the Lord Jesus. 21 And the hand (the power and presence) of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord [for salvation, accepting and drawing near to Jesus as Messiah and Savior].
Did you catch that? They didn’t tell anyone outside their own Jewish people all during their travels. But look what happened when the men of Cyprus and Cyrene came! ‘A great number who believed…’ you fill it in… ‘turned _________ for _____, ____________ near to _________ as ________ and _________.’
Take me back to Part 1. I’m ready for Part 3. No, I want to go to the Menu.
Or, you can scroll down to leave a comment. I’d love to hear what you got out of this.
