Jesus Christ is King Every Day over Everything. Yet today, we celebrate the fact that we have this King over all. There are a few places in Scripture that tell us He is the King we all need, but this one is my favorite, because I can feel the wonder and glory in it here. So I’m going to ask you to read it all in one go. If you can, read it out loud. But first, let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, thank You for being our King. Thank You for being All powerful, Always present, Always King. And my greatest friend. Lead us, Lord, through this and help us see. Thank You, Lord, I want to glorify You.
Please read Ephesians 1:17-23 out loud if you are able.
Ephesians 1:17-23 – Amplified Bible
The King We All Need
17 [I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. 18 And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the [f]hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the [g]saints (God’s people), 19 and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength 20 which He [h]produced in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion [whether angelic or human], and [far above] every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and world but also in the one to come. 22 And He [i]put all things [in every realm] in subjection under Christ’s feet, and [j]appointed Him as [supreme and authoritative] head over all things in the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills and completes all things in all [believers].
A Short Walk
Let’s take a short walk, zooming in a little closer to this.
That you will know and cherish the hope to which He has called you… and what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power is in us who believe. These accord with the work of His mighty strength we saw when He raised Christ from the dead and proven by all the disciples but here it is in Acts 1:3 To these He also showed Himself alive after His suffering [in Gethsemane and on the cross], by [a series of] many infallible proofs and unquestionable demonstrations, appearing to them over a period of forty days and talking to them about the things concerning the kingdom of God.
And then God seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, which is far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age and world but also in the one to come.
Then He put all things [in every realm] in subjection under Christ’s feet, and appointed Him as [supreme and authoritative] head over all things in the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills and completes all things in all [believers].
The King we all need. Yes, I left the bracket text in the last part because who doesn’t need to realize, He is over every realm. Every part of your life. Come, Lord Jesus, be the only authority I can see. And Lord. Come soon and rescue Your people.
