It’s a little longer today so I can show you how I really dig into Scripture. Enjoy.
Please read Romans 16:25-27
25 Now to Him who is able to establish and strengthen you [in the faith] according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery [of the plan of salvation] which has been kept secret for long ages past, 26 but now has been disclosed and through the prophetic Scriptures has been made known to all the nations, according to the commandment of the eternal God, leading them to obedience to the faith, 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forevermore! Amen.
This is a doxology of sorts. Let’s break it down and see if we can learn anything else.
25 Now to Him who is able to establish and strengthen you [in the faith]
Establish: to make firm or stable
Strengthen: empower, make strong
Sometimes it’s best to define words before we figure out what exactly to say. In this phrase we can learn that Faith by God’s design, has the power to make you strong, firm, stable, all of the properties it takes to Stand. Which we’ll see we must do. It’s part of the reason for all the things God gives us as stated in Ephesians. Which is the next study and my absolute favorite book of Scripture. Endlessly study-able.
25 according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ,
The Gospel, the good news, and what Jesus Christ who accomplished all of it for us, has preached too, as in what is recorded in the Gospels and what Paul has as experience with Jesus as he was learning how to do this apostleship job he has.
25 according to the revelation of the mystery [of the plan of salvation]
which has been kept secret for long ages past, 26 but now has been disclosed
What a blessing to live during a time when the secret of salvation has been disclosed. This means we can study it and believe it even though we haven’t seen Him yet. Yet we can see His presence in what He shows or does for us.
and through the prophetic Scriptures has been made known to all the nations
Yes, he means the prophets, which not only spoke to the time they lived, but also to the One who would arrive and save the whole world, the world who believed in Him anyway.
according to the commandment of the eternal God, leading them to obedience to the faith
The commandment of God was the spread the news to everyone leading them to the obedience to the faith, which is to believe and keep believing and living as though you do. It’s the faith walk we are all called to.
27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forevermore! Amen.
Amen and Amen.
