Did you know there is more to the armor listed in Ephesians 6? Yes, the breastplate of righteousness is also of faith is also of love. And there is more! So many great verses in this chapter. Really you should go read Tuesday’s post too. Or just read it in your own Bible. So good.
1 Thessalonians 5:8-11 – The Amplified Bible
Armor we Need
Please read 1 Thessalonians 5:8-11
8 But since we [believers] belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope and confident assurance of salvation. 9 For God has not destined us to [incur His] wrath [that is, He did not select us to condemn us], but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died [willingly] for us, so that whether we are awake (alive) or asleep (dead) [at Christ’s appearing], we will live together with Him [sharing eternal life].
Daily Armor
The armor is something we need to wear daily.
Here’s the whole set: The Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness (faith and love), The Shoes of Peace (the Gospel), the Helmet of Salvation (the hope and confident assurance of salvation), The Shield of Faith, and the Sword of the Spirit.
Everything we need, is more of the Spirit. In every situation of life, more of the Spirit is how we can navigate and live at peace.
More about it
Yet look at this: Truth is Jesus, so to put on the belt is to invite Jesus to hold you together. His Righteousness has been conferred to us allowing us to wear the Breastplate. Which should assure us of faith and love. The Shoes of Peace, well, Jesus is the Prince of Peace, so if you let Him have editorial control of your day each day He will make your life amazing. The Helmet of Salvation will allow your thoughts to be Him centered. Allowing transformation and healing to your thoughts. And increasing your confidence of His Presence. The shield of Faith allows you to be covered in His Peace and the Sword of the Spirit is His Word.
So grateful for Jesus.
