Welcome back to afaithtalk.com. I’m so glad you’re here. It’s a month of very important events in the life of the faithful so today we’re going to talk about the next one.
This year, The Day of Atonement falls on Monday, September 28th.
The ten days between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement are known as the Days of Awe. They’re high holy days in the Jewish faith. As Christians, our lives are full of the Days of Awe, but time is short. If this were the end, once the Day of Atonement arrives, the chance to return to God is over.
If you’re missing the signs of the times, let me help. Please be aware that this country is under judgment and what we really need to do is get right with God and the people around us. It can get a whole lot worse, but if you want it to get better, pray. Fast and pray. Everyone should. Our government should call for a day of fasting and prayer like President Lincoln did in 1863.
In Leviticus 23 you can find all of God’s set feasts. Yes, God set these, which means we should at least be aware of them if not celebrate them. The one happening on Monday is a most solemn and serious day. This is how God introduces it. And don’t let the description of when throw you, we use a different calendar than they do. The tenth day of the seventh month in their calendar is Monday, September 28th on ours, this year.
Leviticus 23:26-32
The Day of Atonement
The Lord said to Moses,“The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present a food offering to the Lord.Do not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God. Those who do not deny themselves on that day must be cut off from their people. I will destroy from among their people anyone who does any work on that day. You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.”
Did you notice what happens to those who don’t observe this day?
Thank You, Father, for Jesus. Forgive us all for doing some sort of work on days we haven’t been aware of in the past where we shouldn’t. And for the fasting and praying we haven’t done as well. Thank You so very much, for Jesus. And for the rest you command us to get both on the Sabbath and on this day.
In resting, let us trust. In resting, let us know, we are immensely blessed to have faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus, Yeshua, the Son of God, our friend and our brother by faith. He’s the only Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Romans 3:25-26
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
Faith. It matters. More than anything else Faith matters. Let’s pray:
Dear Papa, we want to ask for forgiveness. We want to turn toward you, repent of our sins and be restored into your family. For the last 157 years we’ve lived under your blessedness and yet gone our own way. You’ve been calling all our lives and still, so many of us can’t hear you. Our time is nearly up, we believe the times and see what’s happening as judgment on our land. And we’re so sorry. We believe in your Son and our Savior, Jesus, and we ask, please grow our faith. Heal our land and grow our faith. Wake us up to see the love you have for us and turn us as an entire country, back toward you. In faith, we pray. Amen.
Hebrews 2:10-11
In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.
Awe is most certainly the response to all He’s done and all He’s given and it’s all available by faith. Faith in His Son and what He’s done for us. In the name of Jesus Christ you are forgiven. Praise the Lord.
Don’t neglect the time. Get right with God. Get right with people. These days are all pointing towards Him. He’s right here, available the instant you want Him. Don’t wait. Do it now. Save us, Lord Jesus.
All for Your Glory, Papa.
Come, Lord Jesus.
