Grace and Peace to you from God our Father and from our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Welcome to the second session of our Daniel Bible Study. I’m so glad you’ve come to join us. I’ll be reading from the NIV so if you don’t have one, find it here. Also, get something to write on and with, you might need it.
Before we begin, let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, I’m ready. Please lead us through this study and give me the words and whatever else is needed to explain this chapter as You wish to have it explained. Always with You and for You and to bring You glory. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
Read Daniel 2:1-3
Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream
Dreams so disturbing he couldn’t sleep? No wonder he called others in to explain it. What would you do if your dreams were so disturbing you couldn’t sleep?
Read Daniel 2:4-11
Can you imagine that scenario? No one on earth… no one except the gods… they do not live among humans. What they didn’t know is there is only one God, and he is close to His people. Very close.
Read Daniel 2:12-13
It’s a terrifying time to have lived. To remind yourself of the exact threat they were all under, please write out verse 5, this part… “I will have you cut into pieces and your houses turned into piles of rubble.”
Read Daniel 2:14-16
What courage. When Daniel hears about it, he asks why then goes to the king himself. That is confidence that he knows God knows him.
Read Daniel 2:17-18
I wonder if these prayers were anything like the prayers we find in Acts 12:5. What kind of situation causes you to pray earnestly for hours?
Read Daniel 2:19-23
Write the first sentence of verse 19. During the night the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision.
Read Daniel 2:24-28a
Daniel Interprets the Dream
Yes, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. Daniel’s answer is “No, but.” Can you imagine how Nebuchadnezzar feels?
Read Daniel 2:28-36
Why do you suppose a dream like that would terrify the king?
Read Daniel 2:37-45
I have no intention of counting time here, but I have heard and it is understood, that we know those kingdoms, Rome is the fourth one. We’re in the end times now. The Kingdom of our God is growing and will one day be the only Kingdom you want to be part of. Make sure today, that you are. Trust Jesus.
“The dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy.”
Read Daniel 2:46-49
Do you remember what was promised to the one who told the king his dream and explained it? Write verse 6.
Can you imagine how much Daniel and his friends praised God for this? Not the rewards and new jobs, but that He gave them the answer and the king believed it. Oh that we might learn to be as faithful in our prayers as Daniel and his friends.
Keep growing your faith.
