Yippee! It’s Tuesday! I so love Bible Study. I want to welcome you as you come and study with me. We’re in John 14 today. Amazing things await.
I read the NIV but if you don’t have one, go here in a new window or tab. Grab some paper and something to write with and perhaps a highlighter. You never know and neither do I what we might need to make note of in these. First, though, let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, thank You so very much for this book, these weeks of study, the timestamps in some of these chapters and Your words in all of them. Help us know You better. Help us honor You in all we do. In Your name, I pray. Amen.

Jesus Comforts His Disciples
Two things to point out can you guess what they are?
The first is “Do not let your hearts be _____________.”
The second is “_____________ also in me.” Believe.
Read John 14:2-3
Ooh yes, we have to detour a bit here…
Revelation 19:11-16
I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
Revelation 21:1-5
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 22:12-13, 20
12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”

Jesus the Way to the Father
In the last few verses we’ve seen more and more names for Jesus. What does he say He is in verse 6?
No one comes to the Father except _______________________.
Read John 14:7-11
Familiar words? I wonder if Jesus felt gobsmacked or disappointed.
Don’t you believe?…
Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the ________________ of the works themselves.
If this is the Philip that shows up in Acts then He does believe. But look here, he’s confused and needing explanations.
Acts 8:4-8
4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. 5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. 6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said. 7 For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was great joy in that city.

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do _____
Verses 13-14, how do you understand them? I’m fairly certain they come back in chapter 15 with more understanding. So write out what you think they mean now and hold onto that for next week’s chapter.
Also, while you’re at it, these are faith exercisable verses. Think spiritual things and pray for something you will see the answer to fairly quickly. Like your attitude or for joy, anything that will bring him glory.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
The proof of your love for him is what?
Ephesians 1:13-14
13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
Romans 5:1-5
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Read John 14:18-20

Only those who love him will see Him. It’s a simple message, but very hard to do. Have faith. Anything is possible with faith. Because He is living in you. The greatest promise ever given, and it hangs on obedience.
Read John 14:25-27
The Holy Spirit will remind you and __________ you. His Peace. He is Peace. His gifts are given not as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled. Do not let… Do not be afraid.
Oh Lord, did You just reveal this?
God is love. Jesus is Peace and ours through Faith. The Holy Spirit is our Hope of His return and our inheritance.
1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Praise God for his glorious grace, his wonderful love, his Son who is our only way to Him and his beyond our comprehension promises we know will one day be fulfilled.
Hold onto your faith, it is precious in His sight. He knows who you are, and He knows you are His. There is nothing to fear. Praise God. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him, Praise Him, for the wonders of His love, his amazing love.
Read John 14:28-29
I can imagine how they felt. I know what it’s like to not want to lose a loved one. The greatest gift is we didn’t lose Jesus. He came through the Holy Spirit and He will come again. That’s why you have to have faith. Faith is your confidence that what He says is true. Believe.
“I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will _________.”
He has told us so very much. Read his word. All of it. The plan and the promises are all over it. He is the beginning and the end. There is a coming age only we with faith will ever see.
Read John 14:30-31
That the world my learn that _______________________.
Even He followed commands. His words are what God is saying and obedience is the point.
1 Samuel 15:22
But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
Lord, grow our faith so that in all we do we will obey You. And in doing so, Lord, give us joy and peace and the knowledge of your presence with us at all times. Praise be to You God Almighty for the grace that covers us every day, for Your shield of power over us at all times and for holding us in Your hands. For Your glory and in Your name, I pray. Amen.
