Let’s pray:
Father, we’re here for the next chapter in Romans. This study has been a wonderful way to grow and confirm our faith. Thank You for these words. Thank You for this time to study. Thank You for leading and for helping us all. Lord Jesus, we’re looking forward to what you are going to teach us today. Thank You in advance. In Your precious and holy name, I pray. Amen.
Read Romans 10:1-3 NIV
_____________ and ____________, my heart’s _________ and ________ to God for the _____________ is that they may be _________. For I can _________ about them that they are ______________ for God, but their zeal is not based on __________________. Since they did not _________ the _______________________ of God and sought to establish their ______, they did not ____________ to God’s __________________.
Christ is the culmination of the law
so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
Romans 10:4
They did not submit to the righteousness of God, they did not know the righteousness of God. Reminds me of what we read before in the Message, they got too busy doing for God that they missed Him right in front of their faces. It’s the With that matters. Faith matters.
In Deuteronomy 6:24-25
The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today. And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, that will be our righteousness.
And in Genesis 15:6
Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
And we’ll remember from Romans 3:22
This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,
Read Romans 10:5-9 NIV
Salvation Is for All
Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the _______: “The person who does these things will live by them.” (Leviticus 18:5) But the righteousness that is by ________ says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will _________ into heaven?’” (Deuteronomy 30:12) (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will __________ into the deep?’” (Deuteronomy 30:13) (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is _________ you; it is in your _________ and in your ________,” (Deuteronomy 30:14) that is, the message concerning _________ that we proclaim: If you ____________ with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your _________ that ______ raised him from the ________, you will be _______.
Faith. Real faith is not just in your head but in your heart too.
Read Romans 10:10-11 NIV
For it is with your ________ that you _________ and are ______________, and it is with your __________ that you ___________ your ________ and are __________. As Scripture says, “_____________ who believes in him will ___________ be put to shame.” (Isaiah 28:16 see Septuagint)
Read Romans 10:12-13 NIV
For there is no difference between _____ and ________—the same Lord is Lord of all and __________ __________ all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Joel 2:32)
Romans 10:14-15 NIV
How, then, can they ______ on the one they have not ______________ in? And how can they ___________ in the ______ of whom they have not __________? And how can they ________ without someone ______________ to them? And how can anyone _________ unless they are _______? As it is written: “How beautiful are the _______ of those who bring ________ news!” (Isaiah 52:7)
Read Romans 10:16-17 NIV
But not all the Israelites ________________ the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has ______________ our message?” (Isaiah 53:1) Consequently, ________ comes from hearing the message, and the ____________ is _________ through the word about __________.
Read Romans 10:18-19 NIV
But I ask: Did they not _______? Of course they did:
“Their ________ has gone out into all the earth,
their ________ to the ends of the world.” (Psalm 19:4)
Again I ask: Did Israel not ________________? First, Moses says,
“I will make you _____________ by those who are not a nation;
I will make you __________ by a nation that has no ________________________.” (Deuteronomy 32:21)
Romans 10:20-21 NIV
And Isaiah boldly says,
“I was ___________ by those who did not _______ me;
I ____________ myself to those who did not _____ for me.”(Isaiah 65:1)
“All day long I have _______ out my _________
But concerning Israel he says,
to a _____________ and ______________ people.”(Isaiah 65:2)
I can still feel Paul’s sorrow over the Israelites. Can you? Well, it’s not all bad news, all is not lost. We know that righteousness is conferred by faith in Christ. We know that some of the Israelites did then and do now believe. There is still time, though it is short. Pray hard and long and share your faith.
Let’s Pray:
Lord Jesus, I ask, grow our faith. Let the lessons in this chapter sink deep in our hearts and let the assurance of our faith be as light shining throughout us. Thank You for every person who goes through these lessons with you and me, I pray that they would feel how loved they are. Thank You, Lord. I love you. Amen.
