Romans 11
June 30, 2020
Welcome to Bible Study on afaithtalk.com. We’re still in Romans and you haven’t missed a one yet, they’re all here, 1-10. If you’re behind it’s not a problem, just back out and find where you stopped.
If you’re ready to do Romans 11, let’s get started! It’s going to be fun. Bible Study is always fun. I’m so glad you’re here.
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, thank You for this chapter. Thank You for this time. Thank You for the lessons ahead and the lessons behind us. Thank You for being everything we need. You are so worthy of all our trust and faith. Lead us, Lord. Amen.
Paul has more to say about the Israelites. So let’s go…
Read Romans 11:1-2 NIV
The Remnant of Israel
1 I ask then: Did God ________ his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of _______________, from the tribe of _______________. 2 God did not __________ his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about ___________—how he appealed to God against __________:
Read Romans 11:3-4 NIV
3 “Lord, they have __________ your prophets and _______ down your ________; I am the _______ one left, and they are _____________ to kill me”[1 Kings 19:10,14]? 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”[1 Kings 19:18]
1 Kings is a great book. If you have time, go read 1 Kings 18-19. Being a prophet is not what one would call an easy job. After that highlight of chapter 18, Elijah is scared and worried yet, God is so tender towards him.
When God replies that he has reserved 7,000 does that make you wonder if you have been reserved? Want to be sure of that? Pray for an undivided heart. Read Scripture, study. Hold onto your faith. Grow your faith. You have a week between this one and the next, plenty of time to read the story of Elijah. His story is amazing.
Read Romans 11:5-6 NIV
5 So too, at the present time there is a ____________ chosen by ________. 6 And if by __________, then it cannot be based on __________; if it were, _________ would no longer be grace.
Read Romans 11:7-8 NIV
7 What then? What the people of ___________ sought so ____________ they did not _________. The elect among them did, but the others were _______________, 8 as it is written:
“God gave them a spirit of ________,
eyes that could not ______
and ears that could not ______,
to this very _______.”[Deut. 29:4; Isaiah 29:10]
Those two references, you should go look them up too. And the next one as well. I’d recommend the AMP on all these, if you don’t have one on hand, Biblegateway has it. You can go there and choose to read from AMP. Amazing what you can learn.
Read Romans 11:9-10 NIV
9 And David says:
“May their _______ become a snare and a ______,
a stumbling ________ and a retribution for ________.
10May their _______ be darkened so they cannot _____,
and their _______ be _______ forever.”[Psalm 69:22,23]
Read Romans 11:11-12 NIV
Ingrafted Branches
11 Again I ask: Did they ____________ so as to fall beyond ______________? Not at all! Rather, because of their __________________, salvation has come to the ________________ to make Israel _____________. 12 But if their transgression means ___________ for the world, and their __________ means _________ for the ____________, how much greater ___________ will their full inclusion bring!
Read Romans 11:13-16 NIV
13 I am talking to you _______________. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ___________ 14 in the hope that I may somehow ____________ my own people to _______ and save some of them.15 For if their _________________ brought ______________________ to the world, what will their ____________________ be but _________ from the dead?16 If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is __________, then the whole batch is __________; if the root is holy, so are the ______________.
Read Romans 11:17-18 NIV
17 If some of the branches have been ____________ off, and you, though a _______ olive shoot, have been ___________ in among the _________ and now share in the nourishing sap from the _________ root, 18 do not consider ______________ to be ______________ to those other ___________. If you do, consider this: You do not _____________ the root, but the _________ supports you.
Read Romans 11:19-21 NIV
19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20 Granted. But they were broken off because of ____________, and you stand by _________. Do not be ______________, but __________. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
You stand by faith. Never forget that. It’s only faith that saves you. It’s only faith that wins you eternal salvation.
Paul hoped for our faith to provoke envy in the Israelites. Is your faith so brilliant, so obvious, that others want what You have? Faith can be so much more than we often make it out to be. What can you do in these social distancing days to shine like a star in the universe through your faith?
Read Romans 11:22-23 NIV
22 Consider therefore the ________________ and ______________ of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you ________________ in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23 And if they do not persist in ______________, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in _________.
Read Romans 11:24 NIV
24 After all, if you were ______ out of an olive tree that is wild by _________, and ___________ to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive ______, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be ___________ into their own olive tree!
Read Romans 11:25-27 NIV
All Israel Will Be Saved
25I do not want you to be _______________ of this __________, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be __________________: Israel has experienced a _________________ in part __________ the full number of the _______________ has come in, 26 and in this ________ all Israel will be saved. As it is written:
“The deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn ________________ away from Jacob.
27 And this is [Or will be] my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”[Isaiah 59:20,21; 27:9 (see Septuagint); Jer. 31:33,34]
Read Romans 11:28-29 NIV
28 As far as the ___________ is concerned, they are enemies for your _______; but as far as ____________ is concerned, they are ________ on account of the ______________, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are __________________.
Read Romans 11:30-32 NIV
30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. 32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

Doxology
33 Oh, the _______ of the _________ of the __________ and ____________ of God!
How ___________________ his judgments,
and his paths beyond ____________ out!
Read Romans 11:34 NIV
34 “Who has known the ________ of the Lord?
Or who has been his ________________?”[Isaiah 40:13]
Read Romans 11:35 NIV
35 “Who has ever __________ to God,
that God should __________ them?”[Job 41:11*7]
Read Romans 11:36 NIV
36For from ______ and ___________ him and for ______ are all ____________.
To him be the ________ ____________! Amen.
That’s a memorizer of a verse if ever there was one. It puts us right in our place and changes our perspective. Perspective and focus are so very important in how we live. As James says “Every good and perfect gift is from the Father of heavenly lights.” As John says “We have all been given grace on top of grace already given.” and as Paul in Ephesians says “God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”
Thank You, Father. Thank You.
For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.
