Hi and Happy Sunday and Welcome Back to afaithtalk.com. I’m so glad you’re here on this beautiful day. This is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice, come rejoice with me.
First, Let’s pray:
It’s a beautiful day, Lord, and I want to say Thank You. Thank You for these verses, the way it confirms others, the message You want to make clear to us today, Lord. Thank You for the words to write and the wonders to find. Help us, Lord. In Your name and for Your glory I pray. Amen.
Collosians is a beautiful letter. In it you can find virtues to live by, that your life and the way you live it matters, that you are not your own. You are highly valued and greatly loved. It’s a beautiful letter. Today we’re going to a few verses in the second chapter I rarely see just to discover what blessings hide in plain sight when you don’t read constantly. Every word is wonder-filled. So let’s take a walk.
Collosians 2:9-10
9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.
He is the head over every power and authority.
In Christ, who is himself God, you have been brought to fullness. Because He is the head over every power and authority, ooh does that ever evoke Ephesians 1?
Ephesians 1:19b-23
That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Yes, Lord, Yes, please make Your authority over me tangible in my life. I praise You and thank You for Your constant help with writing these posts and for Your leading in everything.
Collosians 2:11-12
11 In him you were also circumcised
with a circumcision not performed by human hands.
Your whole self, ruled by the flesh
was put off when you were circumcised by Christ,
12 having been buried with him in baptism,
in which you were also raised with him through your
faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
This circumcision is heart work, not flesh work. We were all once objects of wrath, but through Jesus, and our faith in God who raised Him from the dead, we are also raised with Him. Said another way…
Collosians 2:13-14
13 When you were dead in your sins and
in the uncircumcision of your flesh,
God made you alive with Christ.
He forgave us all our sins,
14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness,
which stood against us and condemned us;
he has taken it away,
nailing it to the cross.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave us, His One and Only Son to save us, whoever believes in Him, will live forever.
Jesus died to take away our sins. We are no longer objects of wrath. He has restored our relationship with the Father and made us alive forever and ever amen. We’re hidden in Christ, covered by God’s power and loved beyond measure.
Rest in that. You are loved and eternally safe. Every gift, every word of it all to those with faith.
Stick with me, friend, and we’ll keep working to grow our faith.
Thank You, Jesus, for these words, this short lesson, the plans you have for me and for every reader of this post. All because You keep providing, I praise You and thank You and hand you all the glory. Amen.
