The Spirit has many characteristics. He is all of the comfort and help told about in earlier chapters but also all that Jesus says here. Enjoy!
John 16:8-11 – Amplified Bible
Please read John 16:8-11
8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world about [the guilt of] sin [and the need for a Savior], and about righteousness, and about judgment: 9 about sin [and the true nature of it], because they do not believe in Me [and My message]; 10 about righteousness [personal integrity and godly character], because I am going to My Father and you will no longer see Me; 11 about judgment [the certainty of it], because the ruler of this world (Satan) has been judged and condemned.
We all need a Savior. Yet there will always be those who refuse to believe. Integrity and Godly character is in short supply among many because unbelief doesn’t value those things.
Are you wondering what Godly character is? Well, I can explain it like this: Kindness, Love, Hope, Peace, Gentleness, Patience and self control. Sound familiar? It should. All of those are fruit of the Spirit and by extension can be said to be Godly character. Because the He in the Scripture above is the Holy Spirit. So with the Holy Spirit all of us can be all God wants us to be.
