Grace and Peace to you from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.
The best descriptor of what hope does for us in my opinion is found in Romans 5. Here are the first five verses of that wonderful chapter.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Hope does not disappoint us when that hope is in Christ and what God has done for us through Him.
Though Jesus we have Peace with God through whom we have access to the grace in which we now stand.
To boast in the hope of the glory of God. For His glory is praiseworthy. (See Ephesians 1)
Suffering produces perseverance – there are promises for him who perseveres.
Perseverance produces character – it is who you become in the suffering.
Character produces hope.
Hope is powerful. You can not live without Hope. And the only way to really live is to put your hope in Christ. For in Him and through Him is everything we need now and forever.
Hope in Jesus will never cause you shame. God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has ben given to us. We are, right now living under His favor, His shield, and positively surrounded with His grace. Grace is unmerited favor. It’s nothing we’ve done. It’s all Gift. How should we respond? Praise, Thanks, Joy. All to the praise of His glorious grace.
Put your Hope in Jesus.
Put your Trust in Jesus.
Put your Faith in Jesus.
Without faith it is impossible to please God. So believe! He is coming. Not just because it’s almost Christmas, He is coming to gather up all His faithful people. It is faith in Him that will assure you He is coming for you. In You now, through the Holy Spirit, and coming in the ‘flesh’ to gather you to Him. One day, it will all be revealed. He will return.
