Welcome to the quick study I’m doing in Isaiah! I hope you have been reading all of them, as we’re in the 35th chapter today. As usual, I encourage you to read the whole chapter, today, it’s a full of joy chapter. It is fairly short, only ten verses. Let’s look at eight of them.
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, as Yours we are the ransomed, the redeemed so this is another way to say what we can expect when Your Kingdom comes. I thank You and praise You and ask You to reveal the wonderfulness in these few verses. Thank You, Lord.
Please read Isaiah 35:3-6a
Zion’s Joyful Future
3 Encourage the exhausted, and make staggering knees firm.
4 Say to those with an anxious and panic-stricken heart,
“Be strong, fear not!
Indeed, your God will come with vengeance [for the ungodly];
The retribution of God will come,
But He will save you.”
5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened
And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
6a Then the lame will leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the mute will shout for joy.
Shout for Joy! Oh yes, because in Jesus all of that is true.
He is our healing, our deliverer, our light and our strength. Shout for Joy!
Please read Isaiah 35:8-10
8 A highway will be there, and a roadway;
And it will be called the Holy Way.
The unclean will not travel on it,
But it will be for those who walk on the way [the redeemed];
And fools will not wander on it.
9 No lion will be there,
Nor will any predatory animal come up on it;
They will not be found there.
But the redeemed will walk there.
10 And the ransomed of the Lord will return
And come to Zion with shouts of jubilation,
And everlasting joy will be upon their heads;
They will find joy and gladness,
And sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Joy, Joy, Joy!
Everlasting joy. Everlasting gladness. What a fantastic set of promises this is. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. For every good and perfect gift is from Him.
Go out knowing you are loved, rescued, and redeemed in Jesus, and as long as you’re in Him, you have a delightfully wonderful future.
