Welcome to a Quick Study/Short Study of Isaiah 4.
Today we’re in a very short chapter, so we’re going to read five verses.
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, these words are beautiful, but I need You to reveal what to see here. What to comment on here. What to lead here. Please come teach. Thank You, Lord.
Read Isaiah 4:2-6.
A Remnant Prepared
2 In that day the Branch of the Lord will be splendid and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be excellent and lovely to those of Israel who have survived. 3 It will come to pass that he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy (set apart for God)—everyone who is recorded for [eternal] life in Jerusalem. 4 When the Lord has washed away the [moral] filth of the daughters of Zion and has cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning, 5 then the Lord will create over the entire site of Mount Zion and over her assemblies, a cloud by day, smoke, and the brightness of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory and brilliance will be a canopy [a defense, a covering of His divine love and protection]. 6 And there will be a pavilion for shade from the heat by day, and a refuge and a shelter from the storm and the rain.
2… the Branch of the Lord – Jesus
He will be splendid and glorious! Something like His transfiguration appearance would be my guess.
The fruit of the land will be excellent and lovely too.
3… they will be called holy—set apart and recorded for eternal life.
4… When the Lord has washed away… Yes, He’s done that already for those of us in Jesus. These are those who had not professed belief when he came in Human form, but who had since then come to believe.
5… The Lord will create over the entire site…a cloud by day and brightness by night for over all the glory and brilliance of the Branch of God, there will be love, protection and defense.
6… and a pavilion for shade from the heat and a refuge and shelter from the storm and the rain.
Bless the Lord for all the wonderful benefits He has planned for our future because we believe and know Him and especially for the fact that He will return. Help us wait with eager expectation, Lord, for that great and glorious day.
