It’s a lament today. For Babylon. Yet it’s the tamest one I’ve read in scripture. I know there are horrible things ahead for the evil one named Babylon. We’re only going to look at four verses to give you a bit of the problem, rather than all of it, which is only 15 verses. Feel free to go read it all.
Let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, I am so glad I have You. This is a warning we all should hear and I pray we all would run from such behavior and run to You. For I know once we do, You never let go. Thank You, Lord. Lead me through this. Amen.
Please read Isaiah 47:4
4 Our Redeemer [will do all this], the Lord of hosts is His name,
The Holy One of Israel.
Stop here. The Lord of hosts is His name: Yahweh Tsebaoth. The Holy One of Israel: Qedosh Yisrael. Jesus, Our Almighty God.
Please read Isaiah 47:5-7
5 “Sit in silence, and go into darkness,
O daughter of the Chaldeans;
For you will no longer be called
The queen of kingdoms.
6 “I was angry with My people,
I profaned [Judah] My inheritance
And gave them into your hand [Babylon].
You showed them no mercy;
You made your yoke very heavy on the aged.
7 “And you said, ‘I shall be a queen forevermore.’
You did not consider these things,
Nor did you [seriously] remember the [ultimate] outcome of such conduct.
Consider your thoughts, your actions. Are your thoughts obedient to Christ? Are your actions in line with what righteousness and humility are like? There is an ultimate outcome of such conduct. Babylon’s judgment will be severe. Make sure yours is aligned with how Jesus asks us to live. Then you can live with a clear conscience and be assured that He will rescue you. Blessed be the Holy One of Israel. Blessing to the Lord of Hosts.
