Welcome to afaithtalk.com. This is the second week of Advent, the time of waiting, expecting, watching for our Lord and Savior to come (in this case come back). This week, focus on Him and His Peace. Only with Him is there peace.
Luke 19:41-44 AMP
41 As He [Jesus] approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it [and the spiritual ignorance of its people], 42 saying, “If [only] you had known on this day [of salvation], even you, the things which make for peace [and on which peace depends]! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. 43 For a time [of siege] is coming when your enemies will put up a barricade [with pointed stakes] against you, and surround you [with armies] and hem you in on every side, 44 and they will level you to the ground, you [Jerusalem] and your children within you. They will not leave in you one stone on another, all because you did not [come progressively to] recognize [from observation and personal experience] the time of your visitation [when God was gracious toward you and offered you salvation].”
“If only you had known the things which make for peace.”
Because they didn’t, trouble was headed their way. All because they “did not recognize the time of your visitation.”
John 14:25-27 AMP
25 “I have told you these things while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. 27 Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
John 16:31-33 AMP
31 Jesus answered them, “Do you now [at last] believe? 32 Take careful notice: an hour is coming, and has arrived, when you will all be scattered, each to his own home, leaving Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]
Peace depends on you recognizing from observation and personal experience that God has been gracious toward you and offered you salvation. He is our Peace. He has made peace within and between us. His peace is perfect and includes courage and strength for every challenge. So you can be confident, undaunted and filled with joy.
“If only you had known the things which make for peace.”
It’s in Him. It’s with Him.
The Prince of Peace.
“Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid.”
