Hi! Welcome to afaithtalk.com. I am planning to write a short study for Thursdays on the book of Isaiah. Today, just four verses. You might notice, as I have, that Isaiah is wordy. There is a lot to read in that book.
But today, just four verses from chapter one. Before we begin though, we must pray.
Lord Jesus, this is the most challenging thing You’ve asked me to do thus far, this year. I need You to lead, write, and help me and these readers understand what it is You want revealed in these few verses. Thank You, Lord.
Please read Isaiah 1:16-20 God is speaking…
Isaiah 1:16-20 AMP
“Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean;
Get your evil deeds out of My sight.
Stop doing evil,
17 Learn to do good.
Seek justice,
Rebuke the ruthless,
Defend the fatherless,
Plead for the [rights of the] widow [in court].
“Let Us Reason”
18 “Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord. “[a]Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be like wool.
19 “If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the best of the land;
20 But if you refuse and rebel,
You shall be devoured by the sword.”
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
You can consecrate yourself. This is how I do so.
Lord Jesus I give You my time, my talents, my treasure. I give You my past, my present and my future. I give You my mind, my strength and my heart. Lord, I give You all I am, ever was, ever will be. I just want to bring You glory. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
For it is through Jesus that we are white as snow. But that willingness to be obedient? That’s the reason to consecrate yourself. Spend time in His word. Count on Him. Depend on Him. For our whole lives our flesh is at war with the Spirit. You can give the Spirit more time than you think you can. Just try it. For He knows you and what you’re doing and where you are. Talk to Him. He’s the closest friend you’ll ever have.
Back next week in chapter two. 🙂
Grow your faith.
