Hi! And welcome back to afaithtalk.com. This is the second half of a study on the favorite story of the Valley of Dry Bones. The first one was focused on the Hand of the Lord, The Spirit and Obedience.
We’ll have to wait a minute and pray to see what we’re going to focus on for this one. It’s one of my favorite things to do, ask for a Scripture, then ask for what to write. Jesus is so very present and so very involved. It’s so much fun. And I love to study Scripture. He wants me to share it so that’s why afaithtalk exists.
So let’s pray:
Lord Jesus, we’re back to study the second set of verses in this story and while I know it’s exciting and wonderful words, I need You to pull out the focus for me. I need You to write what needs to be shown, revealed, or written to encourage. Take my mind and hands and lead them, direct my fingers to type what You want said. I need Your help. For Your glory, Lord. Amen.
Ezekiel 37:7b-8 NIV
And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
Can you imagine the astonishment Ezekiel must have felt upon this happening? Can you imagine it at all?
Ezekiel 37:9-10
Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they may live.’” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vast army.
Did you know that to prophesy required divine inspiration?
It’s not always written exactly what God says before the prophet says it. Isn’t it so encouraging to read God say what He wants Ezekiel to say?
Ezekiel 37:11
Then he said to me: “Son of man, these bones are the people of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.’”
This is God explaining the vision. Is that not wonderful? It’s like Jesus explaining parables. It’s just plain wonderful.
Ezekiel 38:12-13
“Therefore prophesy and say to them: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: My people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you, my people, will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and bring you up from them.’”
Resurrection and Restoration. The greatest and yet to come promise for the world as a whole.
Revelation 21:5
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Ezekiel 37:14
“I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the Lord have spoken, and I have done it, declares the Lord.”
Praise the Lord.
