We’re finishing the seals this week, and this last one, number seven, introduces the next round of judgments that will come.
The Seventh Seal—the Trumpets
1 When He (the Lamb) broke open the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour [in awe of God’s impending judgment]. 2 Then I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven [a]trumpets were given to them.
Can you imagine after all the sounds we’ve heard in the throne room these past seven weeks that now for thirty minutes there is complete silence. Then seven angels get a trumpet. And based on what we’ve learned in the past seven weeks, we should expect that those trumpets will not just be sounds, but actions too. And maybe much worse actions. If you read the full study, you will discover just how much action is in those trumpet sounds. Not all seven this week, just the first four, but those first four are kind of awful.
