Welcome to afaithtalk.com, I’m so glad you’re here. These last two days have been full of things that go together in some way or another so this little post is my attempt to work out the how and the what it means by their connections.
Let’s start with a prayer.
Lord Jesus, thank You for pointing so much out to me these last two days and for however You’re going to make those connections. I’m looking forward to what You’re going to do. Thank You for being right here as I write and right there as it’s being read too. Bless each reader, Lord and let them know how absolutely real You are. In Your precious and Holy name, I pray. Amen.
If you read the “about me” post, you’ll know that I have one daughter, she’s on the spectrum and parenting is the hardest thing I have ever been called to do. This is where the lights start.
In a discussion with someone during my daughter’s ABA appointment yesterday the ‘try two choices’ options came back. As in, give her two options for every thing you need to do, which is not nearly as easy as it sounds. Mostly because there really are only four different meals she eats and she plays for hours on her own. Yet the schedule she is so focused on must change and we have to find a way through some of the hardest parts of our days so maybe this will work.
Well, that didn’t really even light up until I was reading this morning. The best known, probably, verse in the Bible is John 3:16. That’s where the reading started in the In Touch Daily Readings for today. Look at this…
John 3:
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
“When God gave the gift of His Son, mankind had two options. They could either accept Jesus by faith or reject Him.” – Charles Stanley in the June 26, 2020 In Touch Daily Readings
Did you see it? It boils down to a Yes or No question. A choice between 2 options. Straight out of the mouth of Jesus. Believe or Don’t. Love the Light or Love the darkness. Live by the Truth or do evil. It’s all one question. Different facets but all one question. Do you believe?
Yes, I believe. The whole reason this site exists is because I believe and want to grow my faith and help others grow theirs too. Faith is foundational. It really is a yes or no question. It’s a daily, moment by moment at times question. Do you believe right now?
Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone. Oh my it was in the last post, the foundation we build on is Jesus. And we have to live by faith. And what we build will be judged.
The verse of the day on biblegateway.com is Matthew 16:25, still Jesus talking.
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”
Matthew 16:25 NIV
Another either/or statement. Is it just me or do you also feel like choosing this will be hard? Yet that’s what we’re supposed to do. Live for Him. Live in Faith. Live by the Spirit. Deny yourself. Yep, it’s hard. But very little worth anything is not difficult.
Do you see how everything is under His control? You just have to pay attention and watch. Obedience is not easy yet it is proof that we love Him and believe.
Faith is all we have to have.
Nothing is more rewarded than faith.
Jesus said mountains can be moved through faith the size of a mustard seed. In a lot of ways this struggle I’m in right now feels like a mountain. Faith is required.
Thanks for reading along as I attempt to figure this out.
Thank You, Jesus.
