This was something I knew I was to do when I read it this morning but at the time I knew I had other things to attend to first so I returned tonight and prayed this…
Lord Jesus, I know I’m short on praying today. I’m sorry and I’m so glad you’ve been with me all day. I heard you enlighten my mind with this Scripture this morning and say I should return to it, so Lord, I’m asking now, what do you want me to to point out and dive into?
Psalm 33:4-12a
4 For the word of the Lord is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.
The Word of the Lord. Oh yes He is faithful. Yes He is Right. Yes He is True. Watch all that he has done and you’ll see. He is always right and true and faithful. The Word whose name is Jesus.
5 The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.
Such wonderful news. The righteousness that comes through faith, the righteousness conferred upon those who’s hope is in Jesus. The righteousness that makes us all shrink back in fear because it is so holy and only in Jesus are we made like Him to be able to stand. Which is why He told us to stand. Stand Firm in fact. Stand Firm in faith. It’s all over the new Testament.
The earth the whole Earth is full of his unfailing Love. Oh the love we are showered in every day. Watch for it. It is all around us all day long. It’s so obvious in the newness of a day, the change of the seasons, a wonderful creator made it all for us because He loves us so. Keep watch and you’ll see. Listen and you’ll hear. The way the leaves clap in the wind. The way the birds sing before sunrise and again before it sits. It’s all love. It’s all praising Him. It’s all faith that sees. We’re positively drowning in His grace. Watch for it. Listen for it.
6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars;
he puts the deep into storehouses.
As if unable to stop himself, the psalmist must describe what He’s talking about. The Lord is the Creator of Heaven and Earth, he made it all. It’s all His. Ever look at the stars and think “Wow, God, this is beautiful?” Even at night He displays His love for us. Or in winter, the way the ice shines on the branches of trees. “Wow God!” It’s all love, it’s all declaring His love.
There is no-one who can do what God can do. He creates with his breath, with His voice. All creation is His. All of Creation is His. He is over it all. And sustaining it all. That is why the psalmist continues like he does….
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all the people of the world revere him.
9 For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.
10 The Lord foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
Let us all fear the Lord, revere the Lord. Only His plans stand firm forever. His purposes throughout all generations.
12a Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
Blessed, we are blessed indeed when God is our Lord. This nation He’s creating. His Ekklesia. His church. His people. All of us, Blessed.
It’s wonder you can find in the Psalms. Turn there to deal with all your emotions too. This is just a few verses from Psalm 33 but there are many more chapters. They run the gamut too, from Praise to Anger to Worship to Trust. It’s all in there. And His word, it’s all His word, is a double edged sword. It divines the thoughts of your heart and can bring you back in right standing all in a couple verses.
Faith. Keep your faith. Grow your faith. Every single benefit comes through faith.
Thank You, Lord Jesus.
