Wow, is Sunday’s lectionary full of wonderful words. Let’s just take a short trip through a few of the wonder-inspiring chapters we’re going to be reading on Sunday, well, one we’re not but it is still on the lectionary.
Let’s start with Psalm 133…
Psalm 133:1
How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!
Good and pleasant and hard and difficult. But oh so blessed. You might know that I am very focused on unity. I see it over and over and over in the Scriptures. I want it, I need it, I pray about it. I pray for it. Unity.
This is Acts 4:32a
Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul,
That’s Unity. Do you see the who? Those who believed.
Acts four is one of my favorite stories to read. I love the thought that at one time all the believers lived together. That’s one of the reasons I can hardly await the return of Jesus. I know it’s a promise and I want it so much.
1 John 2:1
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
Jesus Christ the Righteous.
The One who prayed for unity among all who believe. “That they may be one as we are One.”
John 17:11 and 22
Praise Him. Oh the wonders of His presence. Oh is He ever so good. The insistence on relationship is such a wonder, and so full of blessing I can’t fully even explain it.
John 20:29
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”
I love these words…
John 20:30-31
Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.
When John says “which are not written in this book” oh it makes me want more. I want to know more. BUT his purpose in writing is? So that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through FAITH, you may have Life in His name.
Oh the Joy that writing all this has brought me. Oh the wonder that all these Scriptures are in Sunday’s lectionary and the song list has two of my very favorites this week. Just a Closer Walk with Thee and Trust and Obey. My we could do a study on those two songs alone. But the Word. Oh the Word.
Just love, love, love these words. I hope you feel blessed to have read them too. He is with you too, if you really believe. Make sure you do.
Matthew 7:7
Ask and it will be given. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks will find, to them who knock the door will be opened.
God will not withhold any spiritual blessing from those who love Him and praise Him for the glory He has shown us. (Ephesians 1, James 1, it’s all over Scripture)
Grow your faith. It’s critical.
